ACTIVITIES

In the country

We have ten walks from 1 to 6 hours, with the campsite as starting point and finish. For those who like to make therr own walk we sell maps. The highest point in the immediate area is 450 m, and most walks have a height difference of about 200 m. The landscape varies from terraces with vineyards, eucalyptus and pine forests to open hillsides with fantastic views and picturesc villages.

In different areas around us are more tracks: Ponte de Lima (30 km), Paredes de Coura (10 km), and in the Nature Park Serra d'Arga (10 km), and National Reserve Park Serra de Peneda (50 km).

In the nature Park Serra d'Arga one can also do (independant) steep wall climbing and abseiling.

Cycling is possible for well trained cyclists, due to the hills of 200 m. With a moutainbike one can do the walking tracks. Some cycling guests do the motor tour through Serra d'Arga.

We have three motor tours, which give a good sense of the atmosphere in the Minho region. You can make your own beautiful routes by just turning into roads you normally wouldn't choose. These can be very narrow, steep and with 180o curves, but the result is breath taking..

Golf can be played in Ponte de Lima or Vigo (both 30 km)

On or in the water

Swimming in the river Minho on a monitored riverbeach (6 km) or in the Ocean (18 km) at one of the many beaches. The water of the river is warmer than that of the ocean.

Surfing in Afife (30 km) where world championships are organised or kite surfing in,Moledo (30 km). Workshops are given in both places.

Canoeing is on the quiet Minho (10 km) with guidance, or on the calm Lima unaccompanied (30 km)

Fishing can be done everywehere, but requires a licence, easily to be obtained.

There is a possibility of rafting near Melgaço (60 km).

Culture and history

The modern villages around us have historical centres, with parts built in the 13th century.

The villages in the moutains breath the atmosphere of the past.

There are Celtic excavations. The Celtic village Cossourado (4 km) and in Guarda (20 km), Galicie; and a Celtic/Roman village (Citânia Briteiros) between Braga and Guimarães (70 km).

The cities Porto and Braga, smaller towns are Viana do Castelo and Guimarães.

And, of course, last but not least, the pilgrimage place Santiago de Compostela (135 km)

The week markets are big and the whole day. Every day there is a village nearby that has the weekmarket. The daily fish market in Vila Praia d'Âncora allows you to buy a lot of fresh fish in the morning. The vegetable- and fishmarket is every day, at least in the morning, in every village, in a building, called Mercado Municipal

We have workshops about portwine and vinho verde. Both wines are from the region Minho.
