The CAMP-SITE AND US (and how to get there)

We, Bing Müller and Gea Mulder have lived since 2001 in Portugal. That time we settled in the Algarve. In the Netherlands we had a profitable ICT-company that serve non-commerciële organisations, but we wondered if we wanted to continue this way the rest of our working lives. Fortunately we had the luxurious situation that we could take a time-out of 1 year organised in a spot which was geografically seen as well as socially and busineslike, just far enough from our current life, to be able to think freely about our future without being restricted by old habits. After 3 months the idea arose that a future in Portugal could be nice. That has eventually resulted in buying this camp-site.

The name Convívio has an important meaning for us. In Holland we already had a foundation with this name promoting an society with different cultures living together peacefully. To our surprise convivio is a used word in Portugal, meaning a nice get together of people where they drink, eat, talk and dance.

The Italian philosopher Alghieri Dante gave it a more intense meaning. He stated that when people from different classes (economically, socially, culturally and/or educationally) would have a meal together, they could widen there scope and understanding, of the world. For an individual he added that convivio is living your life without seperating one part from the other. Work, family, friends, relaxation, interests should all be in balance and a combined experience. A harmonious dynamic between the different aspects, instead of separating them.

We are happy to offer an environment which we profit from the whole year and have our guests experience in their holiday. A possibility to get away from the hectic daily life and for some time being able to do things you like in the pace you like. The site accomodates everything you need in a day (the children keep themselves busy with swimming, playing table tennis or other games, and we serve food, drinks, and even a massage) and you can alternate it with activities the next day. sage. In the close surroundings the region has a lot to satisfy the hunger for culture, history, sport, nature and festivities.

the campsite

The site is situated in an orchard with many fruit and note trees (apple, cherry, peach, orange, mandarin, plum, grape, quince, olive, almond, hazelnut, chestnut). When fruits are ripe during your stay you can pick them freely. We will use them with the meals, to make jam or chutney. At the internetpage 'news' you can find which fruits are ripe.

The herbs from our garden can be picked for free, as well as the bayleave on the trees an d the fennel and mint everywhere on the campsite.
